The French Open tennis Grand Slam is held on clay at the Stade Roland Garros from late May to mid-June. Renovations begun in 2016 incorporate a new Court No 1 with 15,000 seats and a retractable roof, among other changes. The renovations are expected to be completed in 2020 at the earliest, during which time the tournament will continue.
