Located just inside Davis Mountains State Park, this historic 39-room inn is actually a state park in its own right. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, its 18in-thick adobe walls, hand-carved cedar furniture and pine-slatted ceilings give it the look of a Southwestern pueblo – albeit one with a swimming pool and gift shop. Reserve early.
The comfortable and surprisingly spacious guest rooms are good value, and the sunrises from the upper level are amazing (room 121, whoa!). Check for movie nights in the assembly room (where wi-fi is also more reliable).
