Darlington's brick penitentiary once housed the island’s convicts. These days it's simple accommodation, with mostly six-bunk rooms, shared bathrooms and coin-operated showers ($1). BYO bedding, lighting (there's no electricity), food, cooking gear and ghost stories. It's often full of school groups, so plan ahead. Book via the Triabunna Visitor Information Centre.
