Hacienda La Florida

Top choice in Central Highlands

This 300-year-old working hacienda is owned by a welcoming Peruvian-German couple, Pepe and Inge. The substantial, prettily decorated rooms flank a large courtyard and boast wooden parquet floors and private bathrooms. There's space for campers (per person S20) and the filling breakfasts (everything homemade!) have a delectable German slant. It's 6km from Tarma on the Acobamba road.

Visitors can stroll the trails on the property, partake in farm life or take various two-day workshops (minimum of six people) on relaxation techniques and cooking classes. El Señor de Muruhuay shrine is a one-hour hike away, and tours to other local sights, such as Yanamarca, are available.

Contact the hacienda by phone; email is not always checked.
