St Paul’s Cathedral

Facade of St Paul's Cathedral, Kolkata, India.

Tucked into the southeastern edge of the Maidan is the gleaming white edifice of St Paul’s Cathedral (stpaulscathedralkolkata.org; adult/child ₹10/free). With its lofty square bell tower and Gothic Revival architecture exemplified by its finials and tracery, it presents as one of Kolkata's more incongruous buildings. Look for the stained-glass West Window by Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir Edward Burne-Jones, depicting various Biblical figures including St Paul. There’s a wheelchair ramp into the church around the back.
