Madrid air passengers told ‘hand luggage only’ as Ryanair strikes

Ryanair baggage handlers at Madrid Barajas airport are in the midst of an open-ended strike that is causing major headaches for passengers flying out of the Spanish capital. Passengers have been told that they can only take hand luggage on their flight; those who need to check in luggage are being offered a free transfer to an alternative airport or a ticket transfer for an alternative date. The luggage restrictions were introduced on Monday the first of June and Ryanair has not confirmed how long the new rules could be in place. The staff are striking over Ryanair’s plans to cut their salaries by 20% to 30%, shift pattern changes, holiday leave and safety concerns. Read more:
