Advice for travellers

Travelling with children

With its beaches, parks, water activities and plentiful cafes and ice-cream shops, Palma is a wonderful city to visit with children. What kid doesn't love castles? Castell de Bellver and Castell de Sant Carles have the right, imposing story-book dimensions, while you can combine art with fun on the ramparts at Es Baluard. Palma Aquarium to the east is outstanding, and you could easily spend half a day there (kids can even spend a (possibly sleepless) Friday night at a monthly 'Shark Sleepover'). Aqualand, the island's largest water park, is another sure-fire hit, with its slides, rides, pools and speedball flumes.

Playgrounds are scattered about town, for instance in Parc de les Estacions, behind the train and bus station, and Sa Feixina park near Es Baluard. There's a brilliant adventure playground further along near the walls just east of Parc de la Mar.
