Santa Monica's only indoor-outdoor roof bar has a swinging-'70s, Studio 54 vibe – brass-plated fireplace, hexagonal ceiling tiles – a bar made of a giant onyx slab (get it?) and cocktails such as the TamieTini (Ketel One, basil, passion fruit and cava) and the Shangri-La Mojito. But we most love surveying the view from the Pier to Malibu from seven stories up.

There's also a small-plates menu.

After sunset the dress code is urban chic, so leave the flip-flops and shorts behind, dudes.
