Peacefully remote, 3km northwest of Sakskøbing, this restored 1847 estate-mill has three wooden-floored dining rooms partly adorned with 19th-century furniture and the odd mounted deer. Food is locally sourced and lovingly cooked, though choice is limited. With beautiful views across the reed-banked fjord, the cafe-style terrace is also a delight for coffee and cake (before 5pm) or local Krenkerup beers.
Lunch offers a five-dish selection. For dinner choose from two daily changing main courses, one fish, one meat, served with vegetables and a trio of starters to share.
There's no public transport to Oreby Kro. You could walk here in around an hour from Sakskøbing station, which is served by half-hourly trains between Nykøbing F (36kr, 16 minutes) and Maribo (24kr, seven minutes).
