Understandably nicknamed the ‘Grand Dame,’ this imposing 19th-century hotel has rooms that have seen better days, but the ghosts of its past residents (presidents and gangsters, heiresses and gunmen) make for a remarkably unique stay.
Both Howard Taft and Teddy Roosevelt were guests, but the rooms today don’t match the hotel's former presidential glory. Ask to see a couple before dropping the suitcase, because they vary in size. Note that there's no air-con in summer.
