Yangthang Rinpoche Statue

Sikkim

Just outside Norbugang's south wall, this giant, seated statue-shrine commemorates Lhatsun Chempo's 20th-century 'reincarnation'. Seen from Tashi Tenka, it's one of Yuksom's most striking structures.

The figure is notable for his deep brown skin, wild yet kindly eyes and cartoon-esque grey beard.
