Schlossbrücke

Historic Mitte

Marking the transition from Unter den Linden to Museum Island, the Palace Bridge is considered among Berlin’s prettiest. Designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in the 1820s, it is decorated with eight marble sculptures depicting the life and death of a warrior. Alas, empty royal coffers kept them from being chiselled until the late 1840s, a few years after the master’s death.
