Hamilton Canal

To whisk cinnamon to markets overseas, the Dutch and British created a network of canals linking Negombo to Colombo and Puttalam, covering a total distance of over 120km. You can hire a bicycle from many hotels and ride the canal-side paths of the Hamilton Canal, picking up the waterway on Anderson Rd, inland from the beach strip.
