Topped by a tall shikhara tower, the red Brahma Temple (leave cameras in lockers) to the west of the lake is a fascinating spot. Like many other Pushkar shrines, the original temple was destroyed by Aurangzeb but subsequently reconstructed.
This is one of the only active Brahma temples in the country, and the walls and floor of the surrounding compound are paved with engraved marble dedications to the dead. Note the depiction of Brahma's vahana (vehicle) – a goose, or hamsa – over the entry gateway.
