Konark Dance Festival is all set to celebrate its 35th anniversary this year

Konark Dance Festival, which was started in 1986 by Founder-Director Padmashree Gangadhar Pradhan, is set to celebrate its 35th edition on the 19th of February. The celebrations will be on a much smaller scale and in accordance with COVID guidelines.
Celebrated at the Natya Mandap amphitheater at the Konark Temple every year, the annual international event is much acclaimed and sees thousands of visitors from all over the world. The festival is going to be only a one day event this year and the performances will take place from 6:30pm onward on 19th February. Limited passes have been issued to keep the number of people to 200 to ensure social distancing and safety.
The highlights for the event include Kathak dance by Guru Madhumita Roy and group from Ghungroo Dance Academy Kolkata, Odissi dance by Guru Rojalin Mohapatra and group from Debadasi Dance Academy, Bhubaneshwar and Odissi vocal by Guru Nimakanta Rautray from Bhubaneshwar. The 25th edition of the Literature festival, Konark Sahitya Utsav, will also take place from 10 am to 4 pm on February 19.
