Famous for its splendid views of Cathedral Rock, this picnic area is a lovely place to while away an afternoon, and can be a great alternative when Slide Rock State Park is too busy. Splash in Oak Creek, swim in its deep swimming holes and relax on the wide, flat, red slabs that dot the water. It also provides access to Templeton, Baldwin and Cathedral Rock hiking trails.

Red Rock Crossing is 7 miles southwest of town, on the same road as Red Rock State Park. To get here, head west on Hwy 89A to FR 216 (Upper Red Rock Loop Rd), turn south, drive 1.5 miles and follow the signs. If the parking lot is full, turn around and park at the pullout where Red Rock Crossing Rd intersects Chavez Ranch Rd.
