The suspension bridge is 23km east of KM553 on the Pamir Hwy, around 6km beyond Bargu. The bridge is easily confused with a similar one to Red (4km further west), a former village evacuated in 2012 after floods essentially washed all the houses away.
From the bridge, the start of the village is a largely unshaded, two-hour walk up a steep scree-sided valley. Another half-hour leads through glorious scenery to the upper village. Beyond this, there are two more lakes and a horizon of high peaks which beckon ever further towards distant summer pastures. Guides (US$20 per day) can lead hikers over the Ravmed Pass to Ravmed village and Khijez, 18km upstream (two tough days, camping en route).
