Sun Bastion

Occupying the northeast corner of the ramparts, with magnificent vistas over Galle harbor and cricket ground, this large fortification was first constructed by the Portuguese in 1620 and later strengthened by the Dutch. There were once 15 cannons installed on this bastion.
