This sleek museum designed by French superstar architect Jean Nouvel protects the site of a 1st-century Roman domus (town house) uncovered in 1959. Light floods in through the glass-walled structure, illuminating walkways that circumnavigate the excavated complex with its central fountain, supporting pillars and underfloor hypocaust system, interspersed with explanatory models and archaeological finds.
