Musée National de Préhistoire

A full-sized mammoth welcomes visitors to this world-class collection of prehistoric-human cultural artifacts, Stone Age tools, weapons and jewelry, plus skeletons of animals that once roamed the Vézère. A collection of carved reliefs on the 1st floor includes a famous frieze of horses and a bison licking its flank. The building itself combines modernist design with a curious location partly cut into the cliff face.

Free entry for EU citizens under 25 years and for all on the first Sunday of each month.
