The county museum, Länsmuseum Gävleborg, has beautifully designed exhibitions on regional culture through the ages, from prehistory to the ‘golden era’ (mid-19th century) to modern times, with the life stories of key figures in Gävle’s history. It has undergone extensive renovations that had it closed for over a year, reopening in late 2017.
