From a distance, Jaipur's Albert Hall Museum (entry ₹302, composite ticket ₹1102) looks more like a temple or palace, thanks to the whimsy of architect Sir Swinton Jacob, who designed this Indo-Saracenic masterpiece in 1887.
The museum would be worth visiting just for the architecture and the pre-Raphaelite-inspired friezes of world cultures on the walls, but the collection is impressive. Allow an hour to wander the galleries of tribal costumes, Rajasthani instruments, glinting jewelry, medieval weapons, miniature paintings and sculptures.
Don't miss the deity-covered ornamental shields recreating scenes from the Hindu epics and clay figurines of yogis in joint-popping poses. Visit on the same two-day composite ticket as Amber Palace.
