The main wharf is downtown. The Sibulan ferry terminal is 4km beyond the airport. The Tampi port is 22km north of the city; Ceres buses leave for Tampi hourly from 2am to 2.15pm. Boats to Siquijor are generally most relevant to travellers – try to get the Oceanjet fast ferry to Siquijor Town; GL Shipping also has two daily departures. To get to the northern coast of Mindanao, try Aleson Shipping Lines boats to Dipolog.

After Cebu City, Dumaguete is the best connected port in the Visayas. A number of companies have offices at the pier. Schedules change frequently.

To get to here from Cebu City you can travel by fastcraft to Tagbilaran on Bohol and then transfer to another boat to Dumaguete.

Boats to Apo Island

Most people visit Apo Island as part of an organised dive or snorkelling trip, or they arrange boat transport directly with one of the three accommodation options on the island. If you want to visit on your own, head to the Malatapay wharf, around 24km south of Dumaguete. To get there, you can board any south-bound Ceres Liner bus, from the terminal or highway; grab any jeepney heading in that direction; or get on a tricycle for a shared ride or hire a tricycle yourself. The latter is most expensive but shouldn't cost more than P400. Boat prices from Malatapay are set and nonnegotiable.
