Few other foreign travellers make the trip here to explore the sedate fishing villages, the jagged, beautiful coastline and the caves and waterfalls of the interior. Storms roll in from July to November, when heavy rains are eagerly absorbed by lush rainforests that have been mercifully preserved due to both Catanduanes’ isolation and its sparse population. These also produce the best waves along the east coast, where surfers eagerly await the perfect break.
