Fondazione Zeffirelli

Museum in Santa Croce

This addition to Florence’s bursting museum scene opened in October 2017 to honour internationally renowned film director Franco Zeffirelli, and celebrates more than seven decades of work by the 94-year old maestro. Housed in the St Firenze Complex, a former monastery and today the seat of the city Court, the exhibition begins in 1953 and is divided into 20 ‘chapters’ by room. Hosting both permanent and temporary exhibitions, the space also boasts a music hall, plus library, archive and classrooms for educational sessions.

Almost 300 sketches of scenes and costumes are on display, along with posters, flyers, costumes, set-design models, original drawings and behind-the-scenes photographs.
