Gothic Cellar

The restored Gothic Cellar (praha-vysehrad.cz) here was once part of a four-chamber palace complex (other parts of the palace may have held a chapel and dining room) built here by Emperor Charles IV in the 14th century. The palace is long gone, but the cellars are used to house a permanent (rather dry) exhibition on the history and legends of Vyšehrad. The various display panels describe Vyšehrad's transition over the centuries from royal residence to fortress to tourist attraction. The high points are the relics on display from early pre-Slavic civilizations.
