Riad Laaroussa

Top choice

A cavernous entrance hall jogs into a dazzling light-filled courtyard, with orange trees and a fountain. Indeed, there's loads of space throughout this 17th-century building, and the joy continues in the eight rooms, decorated with modern art and eclectic furniture; some even have fireplaces. Factor in the outstanding (and large!) pool annexe, and it's one of Fez's best riad experiences.

There's also a hammam and a restaurant (dinner Dh280) serving alcohol.
