A cluster of chic shops, upmarket restaurants and galleries is hidden away in the art deco courtyard complex of Ferguson Lane (武康庭; Wǔkāng Tíng, 376 Wukang Rd, 武康路378号), surrounded by 1920s villas. It sits on historic Wukang Rd and is a lovely place to wander.
The Leo Gallery here is a great place to view works by young Chinese artists. Grab a drink or high tea on the terraces at Coffee Tree, or dine at several excellent restaurants, including Parisian-style bistro Franck, serving classic French dishes, or the spicy Sichuan Citizen for chili-philes, with textbook dàndàn noodles and pepper-slathered meats.
