Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum

Museum in Central Hobart & the Waterfront

This excellent waterfront installation is an exact model of one of the huts in which Sir Douglas Mawson hunkered down on his 1911–14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition, which set sail from Hobart. Inside it is 100% authentic, right down to the matches, the stove and the bunks. A knowledgable guide sits at a rustic table, ready to answer your Antarctic enquiries. Entry fees go towards the upkeep of the original huts at Cape Denison in Antarctica.
