St Catherine's Island

At low tide you can walk across the sand to little St Catherine's Island, but it's a long, cold wait if you get trapped by the tide – check tide tables online. The Victorian fort on the island is open to the public, but the exhibition is a half-hearted attempt to explain its history (save your money and enjoy the view from the outside).
