Brainchild of Argentinian architect César Pelli (designer of Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers), the PDC is one of LA's boldest architectural statements. Best viewed from a Runyon Canyon trail or a hotel rooftop, its three glass buildings – one each in race-car red, forest green and cobalt blue – resemble giant, geometric toys. The Blue Building (dubbed the "Blue Whale") was completed in 1975, 13 years before the Green Building and 37 years before the Red Building. Together, they house around 100 trade-only showrooms.
While most of the showrooms sell exclusively to design pros, you can often get items at a mark-up through the Buying Program (see the website).
