The Golden Nugget is Downtown's poshest casino address and home to the Hand of Faith, the world's largest gold nugget still in existence (named for its mitten shape). Its other claim to fame is the Tank, an outdoor pool featuring a three-story waterslide through a 200,000-gallon shark tank.

Swimmers can press their faces against the glass to come face-to-face with sharks, rays and tropical fish. Pool access for nonhotel guests is $15 ($25 Friday to Sunday). Shark aficionados can also sign up for a behind-the-scenes tour ($50).

On display under glass near the North Tower elevators, the Hand of Faith was discovered in Australia and weighs a massive 61lb. Taking photos is not permitted in most casinos for security reasons, but the Golden Nugget staff usually smiles benignly upon wide-eyed visitors who photograph the mighty rock.
