Although only about 16 miles south of Yosemite's southern entrance (and the Mariposa Grove), at the junction of Hwys 41 and 49, Oakhurst feels worlds away from the park's natural majesty. It's the most quotidian of Yosemite's gateway towns: think strip malls and fast-food joints. For park-goers it functions primarily as a convenient service town and is your last chance to stock up on reasonably priced groceries, gasoline and camping supplies.
