An exhilarating drive, this famous mountain pass (2108m) connects cantons Ticino and Uri. Twelve kilometres south of Andermatt by road (in Ticino), the pass can be avoided by using the tunnel below, but for spectacular scenery and a sense of really getting over the Alps, this is the way to go.

Taking the famous cobblestoned Tremola road (on the southern side of the pass, connecting the highest point with the Italian-speaking town of Airolo) via 37 tortuous twists is a must.
