Welcome to Norrmalm
Modernism rules in Norrmalm, Stockholm's restless commercial hub. Most visits to Stockholm begin here, with both the main train and bus stations (Centralstationen and Cityterminalen respectively) located on its streets. Indiscriminately bulldozed in the 1960s, the district claims some of the capital's most controversial architecture, most notably the five-tower concoction of Hötorgscity. It's also home to major department stores, retail chains and hotels, a string of glam bars and restaurants, not to mention cultural heavyweight, the Nationalmuseum.
