Serra de Água

Jammed into the central valley that cleaves Madeira asunder, this picturesque village of 1000 souls is slightly off the beaten track. It's surrounded by high mountains and terraces on which farmers grow produce. The village has a few troglodyte dwellings still inhabited by locals.
