Occupying the former tram depot, this interactive museum stampedes through the history of humanity and its technological innovations. Exhibitions cover everything from ancient trade routes, Greek town design, and Roman road building and aqueducts, to futuristic flights of fancy (human colonies on Mars), the latest in urban robotics (Dubai’s Ehang 184 sky taxi, Estonia’s food delivery robot) and the challenges of climate change. Also covered are two Industrial Revolutions and inventions that transformed the world (steam engine, the railway, telegraph, telephone, typewriter etc).
Many of the interactive exhibits will answer questions you didn’t know you had. How did writing first come about? What are Napier’s Bones for? When was the meter adopted as a standard measurement? How does a sewage system work? Who invented the first vaccine? Look out for such highlights as vintage "pianos for writing" (typewriters), black-and-white photos of Britain’s first railways, Poland’s 1950s cars and motorbikes, Kraków’s vintage trams, the Apple Lisa 2 (1983) – the first commercially available personal computer, a 3D-printed VentiAid respirator that saved countless lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, and scale models of Mars colony buildings.
