Villa Sciarra

In ancient times, this little park on the slopes of the Gianicolo was believed to be a sanctuary dedicated to nymphs. It's equally enchanting today: cherubs and sphinxes adorn its fountains, and exotic flora and topiaries shaped to resemble animals grace its grounds. Breathe in the clean air, jog through the park or settle down for a picnic. Don't miss the circular tempietto (small temple) or the Esedra dei 12 Mesi. Villa Sciarra also hosts the Italian Institute for German Studies.
