Troja Chateau

Across the Vltava from Stromovka (accessible via footbridge), the delightful Troja Chateau (Trojský Zámek; ghmp.cz) was originally conceived as a Roman-style suburban villa. It was designed in baroque in the 17th century by French architect Jean Baptiste Mathey for the noble Šternberk family. The permanent exhibition is devoted to the interior furnishings of the chateau and shows off the lavish chambers and frescoes. The Prague City Gallery also uses the chateau as a venue for exhibitions. The grounds are free to enter, and the baroque stone giants in the winding French garden make for some beautiful photographs.
