The biggest draw to Kōrakuen is the huge (by Tokyo’s standards) sports and entertainment complex, Tokyo Dome City (東京ドームシティ). At the center of it all is the massive baseball stadium Tokyo Dome, but there’s also a theme park, mall and spa that make it one of the city’s prime destinations for family outings.
Tokyo’s Baseball Stadium
Completed in 1988, Tokyo Dome (東京ドーム) is an indoor baseball stadium that doubles as a concert and event venue holding up to 55,000 spectators. Home to the Yomiuri Giants, Tokyo Dome is the best place in Tokyo to catch a baseball game on the regular.
It has also served as a historic concert venue for big international artists ranging from Bon Jovi to BTS. Fans of Japanese baseball may want to stop by the Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum, also within the dome.
Thrills & Spills
In the vicinity of the baseball stadium are various theme park rides that make for an afternoon of family fun. The biggest (and loudest) attraction here is the rumbling Thunder Dolphin roller coaster, which takes riders down a near 90-degree plunge before zipping through a hole in the nearby LaQua shopping center.
Shopping & Relaxation
While not large, the LaQua shopping center houses a good mix of midrange local brands and well-known retailers. If relaxation is what you’re looking for, head upstairs to Spa LaQua, which is equipped with natural hot spring baths and saunas, plus lots of space to relax and lounge in.
