Fish Market
Abundant marine life is stacked neatly by vendors who buy directly from the local association of fishermen, Jose Olaya Balandra. Take your fish selection to the sink area in the back to have it cleaned, gutted and cubed for ceviche. Meanwhile, white-mustached Inca Terns keep watch, unabashedly waiting for a scrap to fall from the cutting boards.
Boating & Fishing Excursions
As generations of fishermen diligently untangle and repair fishing nets in the back of the market, their wives and daughters peddle the remaining vacant seats for 10-person boat rides (30 minutes, adult/child under 8 S10/free, life vests included). Slow-moving, these motorized boat rides are ideal for families with young children.
The adventurous can opt to join a local fisherman further out at sea for a peek into their daily routine (one hour, S60).
