At the north end of the strip, the 190m-long pier, first built in 1899, is worth a visit for its eccentric Under the Pier Show, a kooky collection of handmade coin-operated amusement machines combining daft fun with political satire. The same maker built the Heath Robinson–esque water clock further along the pier.
