The eclectic art collection of Sir Robert Sainsbury (of supermarket fame) is displayed in the first major public building by renowned architect Norman Foster. Displayed around the hangar-like space are striking sculptures and paintings (including many works by Francis Bacon, David Hockney, Henry Moore, Degas and Giacometti) mixed in with ethnological curiosities from dozens of tribal cultures.
The gallery is in the University of East Anglia's grounds, 2 miles west of the city center. To get there take bus 22, 25 or 26 (£2.80, 15 minutes).
