Get a glimpse of Bogotá’s illustrious past inside this 18th-century casona (rambling house) anchoring Parque del Chicó. Once a rural hacienda, it’s now the jewel-box Museo El Chicó (museodelchico.com; COP$10,000; closed Mon), showcasing treasures amassed by one of the estate’s previous owners, Mercedes Sierra de Pérez, who inherited the home in the 1920s and lived here until passing in 1951.
The building itself is a beauty, with Moorish tile accents, a flowering courtyard and an intimate chapel. Guided tours in Spanish and English explore nine rooms filled with glasswork, porcelain, antique furniture and more exquisite objects with global pedigree. Despite posted hours, the museum occasionally closes around lunchtime.
