Across the rocky plateau to the northeast of the Mehrangarh, the marble Jaswant Thada (mehrangarh.org/visit/jaswant-thada; ₹100) is the funerary memorial (1899) for Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, who ruled Jodhpur from 1873 to 1895. Surrounded by smaller chhatris (cenotaphs), it's a whimsical collection of spires and marble jali screens, hung with portraits of great Rathore rulers.
The memorial sits above a small lake and is a welcome, peaceful spot after the hubbub of the city. The views across to the fort and over the city are superb.
