Hermitage Estate

Moldering testament to the failed attempts of planters loyal to George III to establish cotton in the Bahamian Archipelago, these ruins date to the late 18th century, and are now the playground of goats. There's precious little to see but the nearby salina (natural salt pond) and hilltop beacon are reminders of the salt industry with which the planters supplemented their income.
