About 4km south of the Terme di Sardara, a dirt road leads to the empty walls of the Castello Monreale. Built in the 13th century by the governor of Arborea, the castle was used as a temporary refuge by troops defeated at the Battle of Sanluri and later, in 1478, as a billet for Aragonese troops.
