Today promises another full and fantastic day, as you’ll visit the Embarcadero Cuemanco, where your expert local guide will take you on a traditional trajinera: a colorful, flat-bottomed boat. During this boat tour, you’ll enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the area’s peaceful canals while your guide tells you about the history and importance of Xochimilco. Pay attention to your surroundings, as you’re likely to spot a variety of local birds. From here, you'll continue onward to the bohemian neighborhood of Coyoacán, known for its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture. During your guided walk, you'll see churches, squares, and beautiful gardens, with ample opportunities to taste the neighborhood's signature flavors. Feeling peckish? Grab a churro and ice cream — the best midday pick-me-up. To wrap up the day's tour, you’ll visit Frida Kahlo’s historic home, Casa Azul, which now displays some of her most famous artworks. Take the afternoon to marvel at the paintings, photographs, and personal objects that belonged to her and her partner, Diego Rivera, as well as her studio, kitchen, bedroom, and courtyard garden. After your tour, you'll have the rest of the evening at leisure, so you don’t have to rush your time in the museum. Instead, you can spend the rest of the afternoon walking around Kahlo's Coyoacan, soaking up its bohemian beauty. (Breakfast)
Today, you’ll visit the canals of Xochimilco, a word that, in Nahuatl, means “Field of Flowers.” In 1987, UNESCO declared this historic neighborhood a World Heritage Site, which will reveal itself to you today. Alongside your local guide, you’ll board a traditional trajinera, a colorfully painted wooden boat, and set sail while learning about the history of this place and its famous floating gardens.
It's time to immerse yourself in the life and masterpieces of Mexico’s most revered artist. Today, you’ll have the chance to visit the picturesque Casa Azul, where Frida Kahlo once resided. Inside this colonial house, you’ll find self-portraits that reflect Kahlo’s identity and history, as well as pieces created by her famous husband, Diego Rivera. Take a walk through the home’s central courtyard, surrounded by lush plants and flowers, and don’t miss the museum’s exhibition of Kahlo’s traditional and very colorful dresses, either.
