Jōjakkō-ji

Buddhist Temple in Arashiyama & Sagano

This temple is perched on top of a mossy knoll and is famed for its brilliant maple trees, which turn a lovely crimson red in November, and its thatched-roof Niō-mon gate. The hondō (main hall) was constructed in the 16th century out of wood sourced from Fushimi-jō.
