Welcome to Conegliano
At the foothills of the Alps, Conegliano is one of the Veneto's drowsier settlements with only a handful of worthwhile sights. However, the surrounding hillsides produce prosecco, a dry, crisp white wine made from prosecco grapes in spumante (bubbly), frizzante (sparkling) or still varieties. Conegliano's prosecco was promoted to DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) status in 2009, Italy's highest oenological distinction. The town is the starting point for a tasting detour along the Strada di Prosecco (Prosecco Rd) from Conegliano to the Valdobbiadene.
